DIRECWAY is now HughesNet!

HughesNet’s new services represent a renewed commitment to enhance our ISP service offerings and improve your broadband experience. In addition to launching a new personalized start page, and online customer care center, we are launching a new email service for all DIRECWAY accounts.

This new email service provides many new features and capabilities far beyond what you’ve experienced with your existing DIRECWAY accounts. It features 2 GB of storage per account so you’ll no longer have to worry about a full email box again.

What do I need to do?
Your existing Username is already reserved for you on!
All of your existing DIRECWAY email account names are being held for you in our new email system. When you activate your new account, your new email address will be like your existing one – only with on the end. (For example email address will change to

When do I have to make this change?
You’ll want to activate your new email address right away in order to take advantage of the new features. The new web mail interface is easy to use and allows you to continue to receive your former email in your new account.

On April 22, 2006, we will close the old DIRECWAY web mail interface. At that time you will no longer be able to send outgoing emails using that address. By using the “fetch” feature described below you can continue to receive incoming email in your DIRECWAY account until August 1, 2006.

What happens to the email in my existing account?
When you follow the directions in the migration email sent to your account (or you may manually migrate your accounts by following the steps found in the customer care section at, all your email in your DIRECWAY account will be copied into your new account.

Where do I go to get access to my new Webmail?
First, follow the directions in the migration email to access your new account the first time and to copy your DIRECWAY mail. Then bookmark to regularly access your email.

Enter your username (Do not enter “”) and your password.

What happens to my DIRECWAY account?
You can use the “fetch” feature to continue to receive your email until August 1st. The ability to send emails from ends on April 22, 2006. See below to learn about the fetch feature.

Fetching your former email
If you’d like to set up your new HughesNet email to continue to receive your DIRECWAY email, you must follow the steps below:

  • Setup your email
  • Setup fetch from your email

    1. Log into
      • Type your username and password
      • Click the login button
    2. Click on Preferences
    3. Select Mail and scroll down to Fetch Mail
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the Following:
      • Status: Check Get mail from this account
      • Protocol: Select POP from the drop down menu
      • Server: Enter
      • Username: Enter your username For example, your username is Only enter jsmith
      • Password: Enter your password (passwords are case sensitive)
      • Port Number: Enter 110 for POP
      • Destination: Select Inbox from the drop down menu
      • Note: Be sure to uncheck the box next to Leave a copy of the message on the server. This will move your email to your account
    6. Click Mail
    7. Click Check Mail
    8. The email from your account will be in the Inbox. This process may take several minutes to complete.

Note: You may see duplicate messages in your Inbox if you do this action immediately after your migration.

Perform these steps as needed to fetch additional POP3 email accounts. Once you’re done, add your account to your email client. Now all your other accounts can be downloaded with your email. There’s no need to manage your other pop3 accounts within your email client.

Following the instructions above will enable you to receive your email in your email box. When you reply to a email, the reply will come from your address.
