Common Port Numbers
Typically you will not need to know which TCP/UDP port number an Internet application uses to transfer data. However, if you need to configure a particular application or protocol to use "terrestrial mode" (See Turbo Internet - Return Channel Properties for more information), you will need to know the port number of the protocol. The table below lists TCP/UDP port numbers for common Internet applications and protocols.
| Port Number | Internet Application or Protocol |
| 7 | Echo |
| 21 | FTP control port |
| 23 | Telnet |
| 25 | Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) |
| 53 | Domain Name Server (DNS) |
| 70 | Gopher |
| 79 | Finger |
| 80 | Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) |
| 107 | Remote Telnet Service (RTELNET) |
